gilbogarbage: So I scored this 1912 dress for Halloween and I'm wondering how I should style my hair because my hair is at my shoulders. What do you suggest?

Excellent!

Right off the bat, this looks like a good one: http://seamstressofavalon.blogspot.com/2009/04/edwardian-hair-tutorial.html. I haven’t tried it, but the tutorial looks easy and it’s the time period you’re looking for: 1911-1914.

I would suggest looking around youtube. There are tons of tutorial vids for Edwardian era hairstyles. There are lots of Gibson Girl ones, but I don’t think that’s what you’re looking for.

For example, here’s a ‘Titanic inspired’ one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXiHO4Vs_Sk

Hope this was some help. Good luck!

assclassandsass: Hi! I'm in my school's production of "Our Town", set in the 1900's, and I'm in charge of costumes and hair- your blog is a lifesaver! I just was wondering if you'd be able to post one of the simplest hairstyles from the Manual of Ladies Hairdressing... it would be extremely helpful!

Coming up!
